WEIGHT MANAGEMENT

Weight Management & Healthy Body Composition

Sustainable weight management is about more than the number on the scale. It's about how your body is built, how you feel day to day, and whether your habits are something you can keep up. Whether you want to lose weight, gain weight in a healthy way, or maintain a weight that feels good for you, I offer personalized, one-on-one support.

Choose the support that fits you:

Weight Loss

Healthy, Sustainable Weight Loss, Without Extreme Diets!

If you want to lose weight, the goal is a plan you can actually live with, built around your routine, your preferences, and your life, not another crash diet.

This May Be a Good Fit if You:

  • Want to lose weight in a sustainable way.

  • Have tried several diets and keep regaining the weight.

  • Struggle with emotional eating, cravings, or all-or-nothing thinking.

  • Notice weight changes with perimenopause, menopause, or other life transitions.

  • Feel unsure where to start and want guidance and accountability.

Why Is Weight Loss So Hard?

If you've struggled with your weight, it's rarely about willpower. Weight is shaped by many overlapping factors, including biology, habits, stress, sleep, hormones, and life circumstances.

Yo-yo Dieting:

Losing weight, regaining it, and starting over can leave you discouraged and distrustful of your own body. Restrictive plans are hard to sustain, and when they end, old habits often return.

Not Knowing Where to Start:

Conflicting advice online and a constant stream of new diet trends make it hard to know what actually works for your body and your life.

Emotional and Stress-Related Eating:

Stress, boredom, loneliness, and fatigue can all drive eating that isn't about hunger. This is very common and very human, and it's something we can work on together without shame.

Cravings and Blood Sugar Swings:

Skipped meals, meals low in protein or fibre, and long gaps between eating can lead to energy crashes and strong cravings later in the day.

Hormonal and Life Changes:

Perimenopause, menopause, pregnancy and postpartum, and other life transitions can change how your body feels and responds, often leaving people frustrated that what used to work no longer does.

A Busy Schedule:

Long workdays, family demands, shift work, and frequent travel make meal planning and routines difficult.

Plateaus and Slow Progress:

Progress isn't always linear, and the scale doesn't show everything. Changes in energy, strength, sleep, and how your clothes fit matter too.

How I Support Your Weight Loss Goals

  • Health history: I take your full health picture into account, including metabolic concerns, hormonal changes, and digestive issues so your action plan fits your body and works alongside your healthcare team.

  • Identifying your ''gaps'': Our first session centers on discussing your "gaps": the areas where your nutrition, habits, routines, or support may not be serving you right now. This might be skipped meals, low protein, energy crashes, cravings, limitations due to medical conditions, or a lack of time or structure. Identifying these gaps gives us a solid foundation, and from there we can build step by step, stacking one block at a time so the changes feel manageable and lasting rather than overwhelming.

  • Sustainable eating habits: We build balanced meals around your schedule, preferences, and cultural foods, with no extreme diets, no cutting out food groups, and no constant restriction

  • Metabolic health habits: Metabolic health habits: Meal timing, blood sugar-friendly eating, balanced portions, and daily rhythms that reduce energy crashes and afternoon cravings.

  • Sleep and stress: Poor sleep and high stress can drive hunger, cravings, and fatigue. We identify what's getting in your way, whether that's late-night snacking, stress eating, or restless nights, and build practical routines to settle your appetite and recharge your energy.

  • Muscle support: We make sure you're eating enough protein and key nutrients to support your body's muscle mass as you lose weight.

  • Movement: I start by looking at how you're moving now, then make recommendations based on: 1) our specific goals, whether that's fat loss, strength, energy, or confidence in your body. 2) Your health history, so the activity you choose is the one that benefits you most. For example, during menopause or if you're at risk for osteoporosis, resistance training is especially valuable.

Weight Gain & Muscle Support

Gaining weight can be just as challenging as losing it. If you want to build strength, rebuild your energy, or reach a weight that feels healthier for you, I can help you do it with nourishing foods and habits that fit your life, not by forcing yourself to eat.

This May Be a Good Fit if You:

  • Have a small appetite or feel full quickly.

  • Want to build muscle and strength.

  • Skip meals because of a busy schedule.

  • Find it hard to keep weight on, even when you're trying.

  • Notice digestive discomfort that makes eating less enjoyable.

  • Want to rebuild strength and energy after a stressful period or a recovery from illness, with your doctor's guidance.

Common Challenges with Gaining Weight

Why do I have a low appetite or feel full quickly?

  • Feeling full fast can make larger meals uncomfortable, so it's hard to get enough nourishment during the day. Smaller, more frequent meals and nutrient-dense foods can help you eat more without feeling overwhelmed.

Why does eating cause bloating, gas, or discomfort?

  • Digestive discomfort after eating can lead people to skip meals or limit what they eat, which makes weight gain harder. Identifying which foods and eating patterns trigger symptoms lets you eat enough while feeling more comfortable.

How can I gain weight when I have a busy schedule?

  • When meals are skipped or rushed and there's little time to plan or prepare, it's hard to eat enough consistently. Simple meal planning, easy high-calorie options, and realistic prep routines make nourishing yourself manageable.

Why is it so hard to build muscle?

  • Building muscle depends on several things working together: food choices, protein intake, rest, and strength-supporting habits. If one is missing, progress stalls even when you're trying hard.

Can stress and low energy affect weight gain?

  • Yes. Stress can dampen appetite and make cooking and eating feel like a chore, which leads to under-eating and low energy. Easier meals and supportive routines can break that cycle.

Why am I losing muscle as I get older?

  • Muscle naturally changes with age, and food and movement habits matter more as the years go by. Adequate protein, nutrients, and resistance-based movement help you maintain strength and energy.

What if eating more feels stressful or emotionally difficult?

  • For some people, eating more brings fear, discomfort, or emotional stress. A gentle, supportive approach can help you rebuild a more comfortable relationship with food at a pace that feels safe.

How I Support Healthy Weight Gain

  • Health history: I take your full health picture into account so your action plan fits your body and works alongside your healthcare team.

  • Nutrient-dense meals and snacks: Easy-to-eat, satisfying foods that add nourishment without overwhelming your appetite. I'll share guidance on calories and macronutrients (protein, carbohydrates, and healthy fats) and help you turn it into real food: spreading protein through your day to support muscle and strength, choosing carbohydrates that sit well with your digestion, and adding healthy fats like olive oil, nut butter, or avocado to pack more nourishment into small portions. You don't need to count everything. If tracking feels helpful, we can use it, and if it feels stressful, we'll take a more intuitive approach.

  • Working with your challenges: If low appetite, stress, a busy schedule, or regular eating patterns feel difficult right now, we'll find a rhythm that does work for you, whether that's smaller, more frequent eating opportunities, easy grab-and-go options, or gentle routines that help your appetite return.

  • Muscle and strength support: We'll focus on adequate protein, well-timed nourishment, and lifestyle habits like gentle movement or strength-building activity, rest, and recovery that help you build and maintain muscle.

  • Digestive comfort: We'll explore the habits that help you feel more at ease after meals, such as meal size and pacing, food combinations, mindful eating, and identifying foods that may be bothering you, so eating becomes something you can look forward to.

  • Recipes and shopping lists: You'll receive meal planning suggestions, shopping lists, and recommendations on how to enhance the meals that you already enjoy!

A note on your health: If you've lost weight without trying, or you're losing weight and don't know why, please speak with your doctor first, since unexplained weight loss can have medical causes.

Sustainable Weight Management

Habits and Balance That Last

Whether you've lost weight, gained weight, or are at a weight that feels right, the goal is a way of living you can maintain, without constant restriction, guilt, or starting over.

Your Relationship with Food

Guilt, food rules, and fear of certain foods can make eating stressful and take the joy out of meals. I support you in building a calmer, more intuitive relationship with food, so eating feels less like something to manage.

Moving Past All-or-Nothing Thinking

Feeling like one off-plan meal "ruined everything" often leads to giving up. Progress usually comes from consistency, not perfection, and a good plan has room for real life.

A Genuine Interest in Learning
Simply following a list of instructions rarely sticks. Lasting change happens when you understand why you're making each change and how it connects to what matters to you. That's the spark that keeps the flame of desire alive. My approach focuses on helping you understand your body, your habits, and your goals, so your choices feel meaningful and not like rules to follow.

Sleep and Stress

Poor sleep and high stress can influence appetite, cravings, energy, and motivation, which makes healthy habits harder to keep up. Supporting them is part of every plan.

Support and Accountability

It's hard to stay motivated alone, especially when life gets busy or progress slows. Ongoing guidance helps you adjust and stay on track.
